Summer Vacation and Sailing in the Greek Islands...

 

 Summer vacation is just days away and I'm looking forward to three weeks of rest and relaxation on the coast of sunny Greece. A Modern Still Life...

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite interior stories. The south east Queensland home of celebrated Australian potter Gwyn Hanssen Pigott is a peaceful sanctuary that resonates with still lifes, colour and light. Not unlike her pots, Hanssen Pigott's home is simple unpretentious, a place of peace, pauses, and shades of pale. Carefully placed throughout her home are the works of fellow artists and potters creating a collage of textures, shapes and colour.

Blurs...

Photographer Peter Margonelli is best known for his still life and interior photography but the images I've posted today are examples of his personal work. The haunting effect that he's able to achieve by blurring the image is not only beautiful but allows one to experience the subject matter in a completely new way.

A Mid-Century Icon...

I was perusing the very beautiful portfolio of interior designer Tom Sheerer when I began to see a recurring theme in his work. In almost every project he finds a new way to use the classic dining table designed by Aero Saarinen. Whether it's in marble, wood or white laminate Tom has found a way to make it feel fresh and modern even in the most traditional room.
